1. Bank Reconciliation

1. Bank Reconciliation

Keeping your small business checking account in balance each month will help us find potential issues
  • identify ‘missing’ money from deposits not entered, checks not cashed, unauthorized transactions, forged checks, and more
  • identify unjustified charges from your bank or credit card
  • detect embezzlement or funds stolen within your company
  • Manage cashflow more effectively by understanding incoming revenue and outgoing expenses
  • Peace of mind knowing all monies are accounted for

2. Income Statement

2. Income Statement

Having an itemized list of transactions, revenue and expenses, will determine your profit and loss statements. This helps you
  • determine operational performance
  • understand if you are overbudget or under from different departments
  • identify changes in expenses like excessive costs for supplies or overages in phone data
  • estimate tax liability

3. Balance Sheet

3. Balance Sheet

Balance sheets help you understand your business at a glance while helping you identify trends for payables and receivables:
  • are your sales or receivables cycles taking too long? Marketing, sales, or collecting on payment should be a point of emphasis then
  • are the beginning of the months heavy on expenses and slower on receivables? This could cause a cash shortage
  • are receivables growing faster than expenses? Maybe it’s time to expand your business
Your balance sheet is the primary document banks and vendors use to determine loans or lines of credit so it’s very important to maintain a health balance sheet.

4. General Ledger

4. General Ledger

Every transaction in your business flows through your general ledger and a problem here can mess up all of your books. Reviewing this document will help us determine if there are any accidential double or unrecorded payments among other discrepancies.

Small Business entities and Estimated Taxes

Most small businesses start as a single member LLC and as they grow, changes should be made at revenue milestones or when a certain number of employees are hired. As a business owner, the simple change of going from an LLC to an S Corp and putting yourself on payroll can save tens of thousands in taxes. This does come with the added complexity of payroll, but outsourcing payroll is a minimal cost for the massive potential savings in entity selection.

How we help small businesses

Let us help you strategize for taxes and free up your time by taking repetitive tasks like bookkeeping off your plate.

Frequently Asked Questions

As small business CPA, we can help with a range of tax-related issues, including preparing and filing tax returns, identifying tax deductions and credits, and representing the business in audits or other tax-related matters.

The cost of our small business CPA’s services will depend on the complexity of your business’s tax situation, state of your Quickbooks account and the amount of work involved.

For bookkeeping, we charge an hourly rate.

For tax preparation, certain documents we charge a flat fee to prepare while others are more involved and data has to be extracted from the bookkeeping. Again, it depends on the status of your accounts.

We do not manage payroll in house but we’ve developed partnerships with other payroll companies who provide this service at an affordable rate.

We do consult with businesses about the employee benefits they provide and how they can be used to reduce taxable business income.
